I am happy that you have taken him to your room, this is what he needed, to know you are near him. He may be starting to become incontinent so its good you put the pad out, but that does not mean he will always be able to reach the pad on time. My baby was not able to hop down the 4 inch ledge from my laundry room to the deck, her vision was so bad, she had no depth perception. I had ramps with side railing that went from the outside of the laundry room to the deck, then a ramp with side railing that went down the 3 steps to the yard for my sweet senior. She became incontinent and peed where ever she was. Dementia soon followed she would get under the kitchen table and due to chairs was unable to get out, so I removed all the kitchen chairs, she would end up in a corner and not be able to get out, I would find her there and pick her up and move her. It was heart wrenching to she her like this, but she was healthy, ate well and I loved her even more and cuddled her harder. I was told when you have a deaf dog bang on the floor, they will feel the vibration and face in that direction, this did not work for me, I always had to go fetch her for things like time to eat. Do what you need to do to keep your baby safe and as happy as he can be in his senior days, he is confused and needs your presence for his security blanket. Be careful of those steps, that's a lot of steps for a dog with a sight issue. You're a good pet mommy. Please do keep us up-dated. We are concerned for everyone's babies not just our own.
