I stayed home with him, and told him no when he tried to lick the incision area. He caught on quickly, and just left it alone.

My mother was going to adopt a pup, and the shelter and vet told her she needed to get it spayed/neutered (don't recall the gender) at 6 weeks of age. It was a small dog, but not as small as a yorkie. I told her no way, you need to wait until at least until it is 6 mo old so the bones will have had enough time to mature.

She picked another dog, since this shelter would not release it unless she fixed it ASAP.
Good advise to your mom, that's insane to spay / neuter a dog at 6 weeks, 6 months is when vet usually spays / neuter. Your vet will advise your mom of the proper time for this. Thank you and your mom for rescuing and giving these babies a loving forever home. I also have a rescue yorkie.
