I like regular people names for dogs, perhaps because I treat mine like a child (don't we all!)
I recall a movie from years back where a guy with a dog named Willie Nelson met a girl with a dog named Dolly Parton and of course they fell in love. (I think that was the plot, if not it was my takeaway!) Anyway, I really liked how they named their much loved pets after their fave musicians and filed that away for future use. So when it was time to add our yorkie to the family, only one name would do.
True story- after I'd had Joni for a few days and she was settling in, I turned on the CD player to let her listen to her namesake - and she promptly threw up. (I think I had the volume too loud and it startled her). Husband got a good laugh out of that - I suspect he had felt the same for a long time. |
