For myself I use detangle rubber bands, when I take my hair out of the rubber band it breaks by it's self. I have not used them on Cody as he has fine hair and I would have to twist the rubber band 6 or 8 times to get the top knot tight, he would NEVER stay still that long lol. These rubber bands stretch as you are using them, I got them in CVS drug store, package of 500, they come in multi color meaning each rubber band is multi color. If your pup had thick hair you would not have to twist this rubber band as many times as I would have to if I used them on Cody.
