I have the same seat and yes, it must be tight. I got it for Teek and he is okay with it. Rowan was getting car sick for a couple weeks. He would throw up if he was in that seat. If he gets warm in the car he throws up. I have to keep the car very cold for him and he does better being on a blanket laying on the car seat. I have a seat belt clip for him. It clips to his harness and then goes into the seat belt latch and this seems to work for him. He prefers if I throw a pillow on the floor of the car though and then a blanket or sheet over than and he will go lay down there in the car and has not gotten sick like that.

Make sure the car is cool for the dog. I do know that if it gets warm at all Rowan starts throwing up. Raksha will be in the car with him and we will stop to get gas so the car is off for only a few minutes and Rowan will throw up if he gets hot in the 3 minutes the car was off. Now, I turn the air way up before I stop to pump gas so my glasses fog up when I get out of the car. That way it stays cold while I am pumping and then I hop back in and start the car back up.

I am also hoping he has outgrown being car sick as he wasn't before and then hasn't gotten car sick for a couple months now. I hope it was short lived because I love to travel with my dogs.
