I recently learned of a free pet ID tags and registration. It is one more step you can take in protecting your pet. This is done by the makers of Frontline plus and other products.

Some vets will give you a free tag you can take and register. It is completely free. You can go to their website and make an account and then request free tags. They are a generic tag with a number on them and directions for the person who finds your animal to go to their website and put in the number assigned to your pet and they will get your contact information. I signed up last week. It said it could take 4-6 weeks for my tags to arrive but they arrived 3 days later for all of my dogs.

My dogs are also microchipped, but this would be faster if they slip out the door and someone finds them and they have these tags on them. I plan to put these on their harnesses. They do have an ID tag with my info on their collars, but all their collars are loose enough to slip off or are break away collars so they could lose those, which is why I microchip.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else wanted to get a free ID tag for your pet with their own unique number on it for your pet.
