We are training ours to be a service dog (autism). He has been in training for about 8 weeks now. He has been received very well everywhere we go. I always call a new place in advance and inform them he is a service dog in training (SDIT) and ask may I bring him in. They do not have to admit an SDIT, but so far, no one has said no. We do live in a small town, and everyone here knows my kiddo and everyone is really pulling for her to be the most she can be.
We are training him to the Public Access Test standards. I keep a log book of all the training he undergoes, just in case I am ever asked. I also bought the book The Guide to Training an Autism Assistance Dog, and it has helped a little.
Now everyone in town knows my daughter's name, and our pups name, but hardly anyone knows my name LOL. |
