The best tip is to really socialize well your dog. Go to pet stores parks in the beautifull weather etc. For outdoor shows they are usually more relaxed and you can take your dog with you to meander around.
And really nobody but the judge needs to handle your dog. If you don't want your dog petted then politely say no.
