An 8 week old yorkie baby is still in the process of being trained and nurtured by its momma....when they are separated from momma before they are emotionally matured enough, they go through a grieving process.....your baby feels he has been deserted/abandoned by his momma, and he is mourning for that relationship.
From 8 weeks to 12 weeks old, momma teaches her babies things they are going to need to become well developed mentally and emotionally....lessons are being taught during this crucial time with momma....there are multitudes of "breeders" that will say that is hogwash...but they just have not been honest with why they are tearing that baby from it's momma, during a very important developmental stage of its life. To separate a baby from its momma before 8 weeks of age, benefits the "breeder" by avoiding the expense of vaccinations, which should not be started prior to 8 weeks of age. Keeping puppies until they are 12-14 weeks of age, is a tremendous amount of work and expense on the part of the breeder....fly by night "breeders" and "back yard breeders" try to offload puppies before the breeder is saddled with extra expenses of shots or God forbid, issues with parvo or other health issues....the less money the "breeder" has to put into those puppies, the faster they can be dumped onto people looking for a puppy, the better the profit margin for the "breeder", who is NOT in it for the puppies she produces, but the money they can make for her.....sick and dying puppies after they go to new homes, well that is NOT the breeder's problem, that is the person's problem that just paid money for that pup.
Your baby is grieving the loss of his momma. Be compassionate and nurturing and loving with that baby, it is heartbroken over the loss of its momma and siblings.
So now it is YOUR place to make up for that loss the baby is experiencing, in order to keep these feelings of abandonment and loss from being compounded into a variety of other major behavioral issues as baby grows up. Some babies grieve longer than others....YOU must be momma now and provide everything to that baby its Yorkie momma is not there to provide.....comfort, love, nurturing, discipline, and emotional support. Your precious little soul is completely heartbroken over the loss of its momma and siblings.....this is now YOUR responsibility to alleviate these feelings of loss and abandonment....that is a 24/7 endeavor....you need to get a good book that outlines what this pup is going to miss out on by not having a momma from week 8 to week 14. |
