Personally, I am thrilled this member has chosen to find a precious Yorkie that is living in a shelter, to provide this baby with a loving permanent home. I have read and re-read her post.....seems genuinely interested, invested, and in love with an unfortunate little soul that has ended up in a shelter situation. I do not see what this poster has said or implied that triggered your response, your concern that they may not be capable to adjust/care for this little senior. Would love for you to share with us what you have seen in this member's post that triggered your concern.....I am a pretty good judge of character, as I have successfully screened prospective owners of my puppies for many years.....I did not see any reason for concern in this members post that indicates or gives me concern that they were not ready or were incapable of being great parents of this little soul. Please share what generated your concern, prompting your comment.....I would certainly hate to think that I missed a glaring example that would indicate this person was not suitable to own a Yorkie.
To the new YorkieTalk member, welcome to the site and you just take off your hat and coat, sit down and enjoy the ride....you will learn an enormous amount of information from this site, and as you become familiar with the different posters, you will get comfortable with some, be amazed by some, be intimidated by some, learn to toss the shaft from the wheat, and you will do just fine! Responding to your questions as best I personally can....
1) My dogs are all running around in the den area, at the back of the house...I have baby gates up all over my house in order to prevent any dogs running past me, out the front door, into the street/neighborhood. Mine would have to cross over 3 barriers in order to access the front door....that is a major safety concern for me and I take no chances with that.
2) My dogs are all crated twice a day...from noon until around 4pm...this is "nap time" and everyone has done it since they were little babies. I need this time to do chores and run errands, etc, and I dont leave home with dogs running loose around the house. They all get up and out at 4pm, and we all go back to bed for the night at around 10:30pm....dogs all go into crates (except the 5 that sleep in my bed with me)overnight.....I do not want to have to be searching the house for dogs in case of fire or in case we have to get out in a hurry. They go down for the night at 10:30pm and we get up 9 hours later...and the dogs go out for bathroom break and a lively trot around the back yard. My dogs are crated in 24 x 38 inch crates, with water and a pee pad in the crate....they may pee on the pad overnight, but most hold bowels until they get out in the morning.
Welcome to YT....hoping you get your little lady soon and you can become all tied up in knots and goofey head over heels in love with her just like the rest of us are!!!
