Both Magnus & Zoey are adults but I still wait about 2-3 weeks before the 2nd shot when required. Only Distemper is required annually since they're not puppies anymore. And Rabies is every 3 years.
I don't know how big/small the pup is but considering this will be the first vaccination while in your friend's care, I'd say wait 3 weeks just to be safe. |
Is it required by law in Virginia to give Distemper? It's the same vaccine whether it's given one year or three years, and it will eventually move to five years. The duration of immunity is 5-7 years, and some believe they are immunized for life for these diseases after they get their puppy sets and one year booster.
