I have been reading a book by Dr Donald Strombeck 'Home-prepared Dog and Cat Diets'. He feels that senior dogs need a little extra protein! However he may be speaking generally and not be including particular breeds like Yorkies that are prone to bladder problems, but I am feeling concerned about giving her so little protein.
I am wondering if I should give her a teaspoon or two of zucchini a day to see if she builds up a tolerance? I just wish I could discuss all this with the dietitian personally. Honestly they are so fussy about doing the 'correct thing' over here.
Thanks 107barney for letting me know about the chick pea used in Chefs Canine Complete. This may well be a problem seeing she is so allergic. Have there being any deaths attributed to BalanceIt?
I really appreciate all your help. Thanks so much. |
It's true that senior dogs may benefit from extra protein...partly bc they may not longer be absorbing nutrients as well as they age.
Btw, if you ever need something shipped from over here and if it'd be cheaper for me to ship it to you, rather than the vendor themselves - I'd be happy to help you out! Anything for these babies and their wonderful owners!
