I start all my 8 week old babies on the vaccinations, which is an injection, "a shot", right over the shoulder area like in the scruff of the neck. The needle used is 1 inch long....I have NEVER had a baby yelp or cry out in pain from these shots. The insulin shot you will be giving, is given with a needle that is maybe 1/2 inch long and thinner than the lead in a mechanical pencil.....your dog may not be willing to sit still while you do this.....assistance from another person is a wonderful thing but is totally not necessary......your pup will do fine.....after each injection, ask your vet if you can give her a tiny treat of some kind....or do something REALLY special that she thoroughly enjoys, and she will be completely fine! This is no step for a stepper! There is no pain involved!
