yorkie mom feaking out about possible incomplete vaccines I am mom of Izzy my almost 9 month old teacup yorkie. She was born at the end of November and weighs 6.7 pounds. I am feeling like a POS puppy mom because I think I haven't gotten her vaccines correctly. I got her in mid February from a breeder when she was almost 12 weeks old. They recommended not getting her vaccines until her second vet visit. Her first vet visit was 2 days after she came home. They checked her stool for worms which was negative. About a week later I brought her to the vet because she was sick. She had an upper respiratory infection and was put on antibiotics. Shortly after this I separated from my husband of 10 years and my youngest (of 2) sons was diagnosed with severe autism, he is 3. I was in a very difficult place financially and was left with no vehicle. For this reason I have been unable to take her to the vet to get the rest of her shots. I was under the impression by the vet that she needed one more shot to complete a series and then would need a rabies vaccine and then she would be done. Last week I took her to a local vaccine clinic that is run by rescue organization. All of the proceeds go to the rescue center so the vaccines were very affordable. I brought all of Izzy's paperwork from the breeder and all of the papers from her vet visits. It was a crowded somewhat unorganized clinic. The tech said she just needed the rabies vaccine so that is the only vaccine Izzy received. She was tested for heartworms and tested negative. We also received a flea/tick/heartworm topical treatment to administer after her next bath and grooming session. Now that I am looking online I am freaking and panicking that Izzy doesn't have everything she needs. She did get some vaccines at the breeder but I don't think her series are complete. Izzy does not go on walks or out of the house. She pees and poops on puppy pads. I had read that you aren't supposed to let them out of the house until 2 weeks after vaccines are completed. She doesn't go to the groomer. I bathe, groom and trim her nails. I am going to try to post a picture of her papers from the breeder. Can someone please help me figure out what my vaccines my sweet baby is missing? I feel so horrible thinking I put her at risk for illnesses by taking her to that clinic. I thought I was getting her what she needed. I am so confused! I just can't figure out what the recommended vaccines are for teacup yorkies and what she is missing. I am going to try and take a picture of her breeder papers and vaccines right now and try to post that. Thank you for allowing me to join this community. I would really appreciate any help in figuring this out!!!!!!! |
