Bella was spayed at the same time she had her liver shunt surgery. At the time she only weighed a little over two pounds. As for keeping them out of high gear, it is very difficult. For the first couple of days we kept her in a baby playpen, but even then she would get up on her hind legs and try to climb. They seem to have really high pain tolerance and have to be protected from themselves at times. But if your little one doesn't appear to be having discomfort, after the first few days you kind of have to let them have some say in their activity or they will put more energy and possible damage from trying to get to run and play then the possible damage of letting them do it.
