Tagging along with what Mimimomo (Jenny) and Dyan have written: to prevent mats and reduce tangling, start with a thoroughly combed out coat. Best to do this after a bath with plenty of conditioner. Only a comb with closely spaced teeth will find every little tangle. When finished, the comb should easily glide through the hair. Then I use a combo of the comb and brush throughout the week to keep my boys tangle free.
