Please go to a library and check out many books on Yorkshire terriers, breeding and showing and care of/for breeding Yorkies. They are prone to be fraught with many complications during pregnancy and breeding and whelping, because of backyard breeders and people that have no idea what is vital knowledge before even breeding these dogs....poor representations of the breed are proliferated and coveted and indiscriminately bred with any other Yorkie coming down the pike, which is resulting in a flooded marketplace of poorly bred, disease fraught Yorkies with major organ complications and malformations......and people just continue to lay their hands on anything that even closely resembles what a Yorkie is supposed to look like, and calling themselves "Yorkie breeders".... they are absolutely destroying the breed that TRUE devotees to our precious breed so adore and love. It is absolutely heart breaking to see what "breeders/greeders" are doing to this wonderful breed, just to line their pockets with a quick buck...... and swamping the streets with poorly bred, pitiful, sick, congenitally malformed Yorkies, that soon become ill and die a pitiful death. It turns my stomach and breaks my heart what is happening to this noble breed just so some greedy people can turn a quick buck.
"........do you have a boy or a girl.....I am looking to breed my male yorkie......" This absolutely curls my hair and turns my stomach! And this is the NORM!!!!! No question of pedigree....no question of linage.....no question of any defects or vet checks.....no question of known health issues....just looking for a penis or female receptical on any kind of yorkie......that is all that matters......and THIS is what governs the majority of people out there, looking for a quick buck, running the streets, indiscriminately throwing two dogs together....."looks like a Yorkie, walks like a Yorkie, has long hair like a Yorkie, MUST be a Yorkie!!!!".........these are the very people that are destroying the breed as we know it. This absolutely breaks my heart and destroys my soul......all to turn a quick $$$$.

I am glad I am 66 years old, and have enough healthy Yorkies that I personally have bred....I KNOW the lines they came from, the lines they were crossed with, for at least 35 generations back. I give a sincere "thank you" several times a day to the fabulous breeders that devoted their lives to this breed..... These darlings will last me to the end of my years.....thanks to those that came way before me, I have Yorkies that LOOK like yorkies, act like Yorkies, and live long, healthy lives, because it is in the genes, its in the DNA, its in the bones (Wildweir,Clarkwyn, Yorkboro, Rothby, Windamere, Parquin, to name just half of my lines that are the foundation of my breeding stock, etc)....I shudder to think what kind of Yorkie will be considered the "norm" in another 15 years.

Pray that show people will still be out there, will continue to breed to standard and that there will be healthy, gorgeous examples of our beautiful, strong, adorable, precious, HEALTHY Yorkies, and that they will continue to sell neutered/spayed pups to people that are looking for these wonderful companions and are not looking to make a quick buck on this precious little dog's back. THESE are the breeders that will be pivitol in keeping the wonderful infamous lines, pure and intact, passing down consistently for many, many generations, the "set in stone" attributes/personalities/looks of this wonderful breed. The others just make me shudder in a terrified realization that our breed is being bred right down into a rabbit hole, with major malformations and genetic complications. It is soooooooo sad to watch this.......
