Agreed, I would keep Mia in check around the children. I wouldn't say keep them separate so much as just be right there to stop any behavior issues before they become a problem. Sounds to me like a dog that can be a great companion, but they need some help to get there. I hope that you will give her a shot. Dogs rarely "turn" on anyone. There are simple, primal signals that cause them to do what they do in a vast majority of their behaviors.
