I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.....meaning they removed my gallbladder this way. They actually went in and brought it out through one of these small holes. I had this operation on Wednesday and went swimming on Saturday. I had almost no discomfort.

Prior to this, having your gallbladder removed was one of the worst surgeries imaginable. They made a huge cut across your abdomen - cutting through muscles, etc., and the recovery was extremely longlasting and painful.

Was I lucky or what!

Don't worry about having this done. Just be very very glad that they do it.
It's really just an outpatient procedure...

Sometimes though during and after a laparoscopy - if they find any problems they do take care of them and do whatever surgery is necessary right then.
But you should be told that this might happen in advance.

Good luck - don't worry!

I was one of the unlucky ones. I had to spend the night in the hospital. The anesthesia(sp) made me sick. I was pucking bile. Gross! Other than that it was a breeze.
