He has been used approximately 5 times to stud with other females and has been successful yorks. As a matter of fact, the lady I got the stud from has 2 females pregnant by him right now (one was a surprise for her ). Bella is very interested now (she wasn't the first couple of days), and we now have noticed her mounting him and trying to hump him. He just growled at her and ran away. He sniffs her and is obviously checking on her, but he doesn't seem to want to mount her. We've left them alone for 2-3 hours yesterday and the day before. So, unfortunately we are unsure if they did the deed or not. I'd like to have one visual confirmation before sending him home. I could ask the lady if Bella could go to her house and see if it happens there. However, I'm unsure it's a good idea for her to go to a home with 2 pregnant females. I will suggest it to her though.
I am obviously a newby, but I've have done quite a bit of research....and this one has me a little stumped. We plan to keep two of the puppies and we have numerous family members and friends who are "fighting" over any left . I'm not sure I want to let anyone have them.... |
I am sorry, but your first sentence above says it all.......
(1) Never leave breeders alone...if they tie, and the female decides she wants to leave the area, she can permanently damage the male....you should never leave two breeding dogs alone.
(2) You never take the male to the female....you always take the female to the male.....territory thing.
(3) These dogs have to breed three times....I do mine consecutively, alot of breeders skip a day between breedings.
I could number about 20 more things you need to know and appreciate.....
You actually have an enormous amount of learning to do before you breed....you are endangering your female and the stud as well, leaving them unattended to "do the deed unsupervised"....he can be irreparably damaged. The babies that may happen from this breeding.....do you have health certifications/history of the male and female for at the very least 7 generations back? There can be all kinds of deformities and congenital defects that may surface in any of these puppies. Are you going to be medically responsible for deformed or terminally ill babies that may be born? Your female could die having this litter of puppies.....are you ready to sacrifice her life of a litter of genetically unknown puppies, for friends?
There is soooooo much missing from this situation.....The fourth sentence in your post speaks volumes.....you have about 4 years of intense research, studying, genetic research, Yorkie lines that are healthy and ones that are notoriously unhealthy, and which lines you just do NOT mix and match because of issues that have a propensity to surface. Please, rethink this thing you are about to do...is it worth the life of your female? That is a question you should ask everytime you breed her.
