i bought about ten different kinds of bags and there was always a major flaw with each one, whether it was too bulky, too flimsy, too confined, too awkward, or had bad weight distribution and made you hot anf exhausted by the end of the trip. Until i stumbled across this one...( i gave up on the purse idea because they were never comfortable.) this simple backpack has been so awesome. the only thing i added to it was a round piece of memory foam on the bottom so it gave my baby more support and room to re adjust . theres plenty of room. My izzy is 7 pounds and she has room enough. my pup is 2 lbs and she loves it. it has a lead so the cant jump ship. its made of mesh so its airy and they don't get too hot or claustrophobic, they can have their head out when its open, or you can pull the cinch and hide them away. it's comfortable to carry on one shoulder, even better as a back pack, and has a loop at top to carry by hand. it has two small pockets on the sides for keys and such. and I seriously only paid like $10 or $14 for it on ebay. and its cute. i got the girly pink one. oh and its incredibly lightweight. weighs practically nothing. just thought you should know in case you want to skip buying a bunch of useless expensive stuff like I did. lol
