Be sure you have a good vet! One you can trust to give appropriate, knowledgable guidance.....I would not trust any vet that told me not to give water by mouth, unless they were hydrating my pup with IV's or sub-q fluid! The younger and smaller and sicker they are, the quicker you have to move to get them help to keep them alive. I would suggest a vet school.....they are up to date on treatments and knowledge....
