You've gotten some great advice so far as joining a local club and attending shows. I would definitely recommend attending as many shows as you can, watch the yorkies, and introduce yourself to yorkie exhibitors after they are done showing. Once people see you attending shows, networking, asking questions and learning, there will be some that will be willing to help you and possibly even sell you a dog or give a good recommendation to someone you are interested in buying from.
We just had several shows this summer that would have been great to have attended...Dallas and San Antonio were earlier this month. But there will be others this fall.
