My last little yorkie had one also. His had a difficult time healing, and my vet ended up making drops out of his own stem cells to heal it. Once it finally did heal though, he was good as new. No white film and his eye looked perfectly normal. I agree with a cone or very careful monitoring to keep him from rubbing it with his paws or on the carpet or furniture. My Scooby's seemed to itch most when it was mostly healed, and it was hard to keep him from rubbing it.
