If the car is his phobia, I am not sure that the collar would work. If he gets that wound up, he might not understand what the collar is meant to do. I would start by trying to desensitize him. Go out and get in the car for a mealtime maybe and then go back inside. Or go out and get in the car for a few minutes and then turn it off and go back inside without going anywhere. Any good behavior, reward and praise praise praise. Let him understand that the car can be a treasure trove of treats, praise and love and soon enough he will beat you to the car any time you try to go anywhere.
