Default Getting ready for the ageing process

If we are lucky enough to have our dogs for some years - we all will face both the ageing process, and then inevitably the final good-bye.

As loving dog owners it is not something we like to think about - but it is part of what we sign up for when we get our first adorable puppy.

As your dog ages, more frequent vet care is indicated. Why? To try to catch inbalances when they start. So you might think about 2x per year visits. Special bloodwork Adding appropriate enzymes or supplements to their diet.

There is no one right answer here - but this is food for thought. What happens when your ageing senior gets diagnosed with a life threatening illness that might cost many more $$$ than you have? How do you make the decision to give or not that particular care? Do you try to raise funds on some sites like GoFundMe - do you know what organizations exist to help vet owners with assistance on medical bills?

How will you know when it is time to let go? Again no simple answers.

But I can say a dogs life well-lived - loved - given an enriched life with their owners goes a long way to helping you sort through the decisions at some point you will need to make.

As hard as it is to think about these things - do give it some thought. I do all the time with my now senior boy - I know where I will likely go with a lot of situations. I have not only thought through it but agonized over it.
