Both my boys have topknots. Even when I shaved Rasta's body last year I left his topknot alone. Most of the yorkies I see in my area are in puppy cuts, so when people see mine in full coat it's a bit of a shock.

The groomer's comment wouldn't have bothered me. Maybe most of the male yorkies she grooms don't have top knots or she was maybe just verifying what you wanted?

Some people really are not as open minded, as Magnus said, on what they consider male attributes when it comes to dogs(people too). My husband says dudes don't wear bows lol. But Rasta and Medi continue to wear them.

If she did a fantastic job and Cody likes her, I say keep her. If she questions you in a sarcastic/snide way get rid of her and find another groomer or speak with her about how she came across if you choose to take Cody back.
