Well hard food does not clean there teeth so soft food would not be worse or bad for his teeth. If you want to home cook you need to make sure you are using a recipe from a vet nutritionist and a supplement. You can use petdiets.com or balanceit.com. I would be worried switching food so often. Sometimes they will have days where they just don't want to eat.
