one of my girls, now passed would get fed in a flat dish, not a bowl, she would eat half the food then whine and bark because she wanted her dish turned around, the uneaten portion facing her, I would have to turn the dish halfway around for her to finish, she wouldn't reach over to the other side of the dish, the dish was saucer size lol, now that's weird lol.
