The vet put my dog on Clavamox 62.5 mg twice a day for collapsed Trachea. He was just diagnosed with this last monday. He s also on prednisone 5 mg for the first 2 days then every other day. Last night he wasn't doing well. he was staggering couldn't jump up, and when I picked him up he screamed. Yesterday he only had the 2 dosed of Clavamox. I did not give him the prednisone. I looked up side effects for this drug and he isn't getting diarrhea or anything but I did come across the dosage for dogs, and it ssid 6.2 mg per pound. He is only 5 pounds. That would be at the most 30 mg and the vet prescribed double that. I did call yesterday and questioned why he was even on the antibiotic in the first place for ct? He seems ok today Jumping up the couch and going up and down stairs again, but I haven't given him the antibiotic yet. We just gave him the prednisone. I am waiting to here back from the vet. I called him again. hopefully he calls back. Anyone if you can while I wait to hear back know the answer if this is to much.
