Martin, I love the house. So homey feeling. I love small towns.
Right now our small town is bursting at the seams and traffic snarled as we live close to the shore (about 3/4 mile) and it is summer. Even though some of our beachfront towns are still ravaged from Hurricane Sandy, people still flock to the shore.
Best of luck with your house and the pups should love the gardens and outdoor space to run and play.
