The Yorkies move if a person wants to sit, or we sit and pull them onto our laps.

I understand some people not allowing dogs on the couch, but I love mine to be touching me whenever they want to be so I love them to be on the couch.

Mine also sleep in bed with us too, so they are just used to be touching us and being with us.

Going to my mother in laws house where dogs are not supposed to be on the couch will be interesting. We went there in May with Teek and he got into her chair and she just laughed and asked if she could sit down so I went and got him out of the chair for her, but she didn't seem mad about it. If they try to get on the couch I will put a blanket or sheet over it for sure in case they do.

Good luck with the bedtime. I think he will slowly adjust to your schedule, most do, but some do not every change their habits.
It's really a bad idea to put your pup on anything high. If they jump they can easily injure their fragile legs. The only time Calleigh is allowed on the couch is when I'm sitting right beside her. It's probably better if you don't allow your pup on the couch. Calleigh does listen and stay when she is with me. If I get up I will put her on the floor.
