I personally feel that the stud owner also shares the responsibility for any puppies produced from the stud service. So, mother's size is an issue. Experience of the owner of the female in breeding, etc. Are you willing to be their mentor or do you have the experience to even consider that? Will you be able to require that the get be sold on S/N contract with limited reg? Will the owner of the female say that you need to help sell the puppies? What if the puppies are genetically defective--who pays? That is where the pedigree is a help.
