I have a rescue now 19 months, he is 4 y/o, came from a loving family and very spoiled. He was a stranger to me, I didn't do with him as I did with the pups I raised from babies, like kiss his face, neck, ears. He was trained as a baby to be a gentleman, when he came to me he was like a kid with a new baby sitter, pushing buttons, seeing how far he could go with me lol. He is a dog, so most of the buttons that were pushed he got his way. Then the biting started, hard biting not play bite. FIRM NO BITE was put in place, I would play tease him to make him bite, then give the NO BITE command. It took 3 weeks of this type of training, now I can play tease and he'll just mouth me. I can and do now kiss his face, neck and ears, I know him better but am still on guard when I do this. It takes time with a rescue even if they came from a loving home. 3 weeks is not enough time for a rescue to have full trust in her new parents and home, your DH has to give her more time and lots of patience. Penny biting Alfie may be a jealousy thing, especially if DH is showing Alfie more attention in front of Penny, do you even know when Penny came to you, was she dog friendly? I am by no means an expert when it comes to rescues and their reaction to new home with another furbutt. I use to have a pack of 3, all 3 years apart, but I got them all as puppies, all females, they all got along great. Others will be along, hopefully the can offer up their experience with Penny's issues of biting Alfie, as far as DH lol, tell him to keep his face away from area were there are teeth lol until you get to know this dog. I have Cody now 19 months and I am stilling learning new things about him.
