Sounds like your gal is a well seasoned traveller. What I would be first concerned with is finding a vet in Austin. Next as you will literally be in a different part of the country what are the cautions you need to be aware of with the local environment. Austin I think is extremely hot in summer so be aware of tender pawpads on pavement. Know signs of heat exhaustion. Are ticks rampant there? If your wife will be home most of the day your gal will probably adjust very quickly to your new home.
