I always recommend the breeders who are members of the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (YTCA). These breeders have promised to uphold certain standards and their goal is to preserve and protect the breed. In other words, they are trying to do what best for the breed. Your average breeder does no health testing and generally breeds their pets. Good breeders buy special breeding dogs and show them to ensure they have the qualities that a Yorkie is meant o have. A good breeder doesn't breed until these conditions have been met. The offspring that are not being used to breed will then be placed in good pet homes. Breeders who show have very affordable dogs, but their primary goal is placing their offspring in a good home, not making a living off of their dogs.
