Poor baby. P is a horrible disease, but well treatable lf caught early.
If the vet prescribed food and the dog is hungry that is good news. I think well cooked white rice is better with plenty of water in it would help to fill him up if he is hungry. The prescription canned foods are 80% water and not very satisfying as it is so bland. Later with the vet approval, perhaps some low fat boiled chicken breast could be added?
My vet also gave him an antacid, Pepcid, but perhaps the sucralfate will be enough to control excess stomach acid?
Hoping your baby will soon improve on the meds and hydration. To minimize the possibility of another bout of P it is usually suggested one feeds a low fat diet afterwards. No fatty treats or table food either!!
I feed mine Hills prescription Low fat ID kibble and occasionally canned and he is doing really well on it.
Good luck , and get well soon Samson
