When Wylie had his LP surgery, we were told (I think...?) a 3 month recovery...and honestly, that sounds way worse than it actually is - so I wouldn't let the recovery really scare you too much. They bounce back *so* fast that the "recovery" is more about keeping them safe from themselves, rather than being about, say, being immobile or something.
