I hand my puppies to people who want to hold them because I do want them to be that social with people, but that is what I want in a Yorkie.
Some people don't want their Yorkies this social and I understand that. I have an 80 lb dog that is my guard/watch dog. I don't need these little guys to be watch or guard dogs for me.
I would highly recommend training and quickly before they get older. Training sessions will be the best money you can spend on the dog as it will just make it a better dog.
If you absolutely can't afford training or can't find a trainer then I would look up the subject on You Tube and see if any trainers have video's out on how to get your accustomed to other people petting it. I would think it would involve you have people pet your puppy, but I am not sure the best way to make your dog comfy with people like that. Have them give treats to the dog maybe? |
I have a big family she is always around people, the biting and growling and kind of savage behaviour just happened out of no where.. We recently made a family trip to my aunts and 18 of us and 3 dogs were in one house and i found that she got use to ppl and let them pick her up without snapping at them she got more comfortable so i think she does need more ppl socializing. Thanks for the advice.
