That will be good if your grandma can keep him for you. I know I would miss my little ones really badly. Probably one of the reasons I didn't go away to college myself and chose to live at home and go to a community college. I didn't want to leave my boyfriend (he is my husband now) and his kids and also didn't want to be away from my fox terrier we had either. The dog had slept in my bed since I was 12 years old. I just couldn't stand the thought of being away from all of them.
My daughter is going to have trouble leaving her puppy I think, but she will be well loved being here with us. The puppy will have her brother to play with. I think it will be hardest when she moves the puppy out of the house, but we will separate them many times over the years as we go travel and she keeps her puppy with her, so we will see how the dogs do in the long run. We have other plans we can go to if absolutely necessary to keep the two of them together, like sharing them, or one of us keeping the other's puppy and then getting another puppy. We have options that we will deal with only if necessary.
