I would want to be present when the Cocker puppy is with Izzy, at least until they get used to each other. I have found that 'adults'...even those who shy away from a new puppy...do recognize that they are dealing with a 'baby' animal, and all of the ones I had 'came around' and dealt admirably with the newcomer babies. However, the Cocker will be bigger than her, and, since he's just a baby, he will not understand he could hurt her playing with her. It has also been my experience, that the 'baby' animal 'knows' they are dealing with an adult, and all of mine 'gave due respect' to the 'older generation' even though they grew larger than them as an adult. I cannot promise you this will happen, but if it was me, I would spend time with Izzy and puppy, but definitely allow Izzy to make her own 'accommodation'...she may surprise you! |
