JadeD has a good suggestion in leaving him a trial beforehand to see how it goes...good idea. I would be fretting about this too, bc 2 weeks is indeed a long time...but...I bet he'd be just fine in the end. Maybe make sure you leave something w/ him when he's at the MIL's house that smells like you guys?
