My 8 month old has hated the slicker brush since I got him as a puppy so I don't use one. He gets mats quite often under his arm and on his legs, right up against the skin. I bought detangler to help get them out after I read that it would but to this day, I haven't had to use it. I use a flea comb and 'pick' the mats out with the very tip of the comb, piece by piece. It takes awhile but it doesn't hurt him (he has never cried and lies there quietly so I don't think it does) and I have been successful in getting all his mats out and he gets really matted running around and playing in the dirt, dried leaves and sticks.
Good luck in getting them buggers out. |
