Yes, it does *suppress* the immune system in really basic laymen's terms -- but that's the goal...so the suppression is a good thing/result. It's the suppression of certain aspects of specific immunity cells and their actions that allows the body to NOT react severely to previously reactive allergic elements. Both Atopica and Apoquel work with some form of "suppressing" aspects of the immune system. Both are really wonderful and helpful meds for soooo many dogs...including my Marcel, who has been on Atopica for about 5 years now.

How are your kiddo's allergies doing and what did you decide re the Apoquel?
