My dog had this surgery between 6 & 7 months old. He will be 6 years old in November. He sometimes runs around with that leg up but overall he recovered well. There is some rehab involved but you can do it yourself, the surgery is quite costly. So far he has had no issues with his other hip. The testing showed it to be genetic.
