I am not condemning anyone here: I was wondering if we pay $2000 or $400 for a puppy are our chances of getting not only a healthy puppy but one that lives a long life without health issues any different.

((After just having to put down my Tigger (orange tabby) of 14 years I know the pain of losing a beloved pet/ friend. I am so blessed to have Buddybear to ease my loss. When I took Tigger to the vet it was all about his quality of life I'm thankful I had my dh to help me get through it who doesn't even care for cats but loves me enough to be supportive.))

Look for one yes we have many posts on sick yorkies which reflects that this is the premiere site for Yorkies that folks go to when they are researching on a medical condition their Yorkie or for that matter any dog might have.

And yes the purchaser needs to investigate the breeder and understand what kind of health checks breed specific health tests are done prior to breeding and what kind of health concerns that are in the lines they are breeding. If the breeder does this and has very fine quality CH Yorkies then you will be investing wisely in this breeder. But there are no guarantees for perfect health in dogs or in humans. I can almost guarantee that any breeder who charges $400 for a puppy does not health test or show their breeding stock.
