"Many puppies that come in for first shots at the vet office at 6wks have inguenal hernias. Almost all of those close by the second-third booster. It is just that some take 8-10wks to close while some are closed at 8-10 days of age. Most puppies have none from birth because that space closed in utero in development. But it is a common problem that usually self-resolves by 10-12wks or less. And it is usually considered hereditary in nature. But the dogs easily make good pets."
I can not begin to remember when or where I got this information....I have had it in my files for many, many years!
