My 14 week old puppies have water available for them at all times during the day. I have 4 dogs in the house, so we have about 6 water bowls spread throughout it. I fill each with fresh water each morning and then during the day I refill any as needed. My oldest Yorkie will paw at the dish if it is empty to alert me, and my youngest will carry an empty bowl and bring it to me, so they are rarely any empty bowls around.

Is the dogs urine a very dark yellow? Very strong smelling? If it is a lighter yellow they are probably fine. If the odor is not very strong they are probably drinking enough. I don't measure how much mine drink because I see them go and drink several times a day and they will drink what they need. Like people, different dogs have different amounts of water needed. I drink far less than my husband does. I mean I drink 1/4 of what he takes in for sure and I get enough for what I need. Is the puppy active and full of energy?
