I've never trained a dog to ring a bell, but I've heard people post how they did it and that it works great. They just hung a bell on the door, low enough for the dog to reach. Every time they took the dog out they rang the bell. Before long the dog was ringing the bell, and they took it out EVERY time. For awhile they would ring it just to go out and play, but that didn't last long.
