Along the same lines . . . I also believe it is a matter of personal preference and the individual dog. Caring for a shorter coat is easier. It can be cooler for the dog, but for my boys it doesn't make a difference. We can't go out for long in the heat of the day no matter what, unless we stay on grass. The boys are comfortable in the house in their long coats. If I cut Teddy's coat, he would have to wear clothes inside in the air conditioning.
I cut Max's beard short about a month ago. He seems to miss his long facial hair. It was what he was accustomed to, I guess.
